Every year, as we gear up for another amazing season of cat skiing, we roll out an area Signage Plan as part of our duty to protect the safety of our employees, guests and the general public.
In 2002, Selkirk Snowcat Skiing was granted a Provincial Government “Order in Council” (OIC) which restricts public access within our tenure during our operating season. The OIC resulted from the concern for public safety and the increasing likelihood of a collision between snowmobile and snowcat on the steep, narrow and winding cat roads. The Signage Plan works in accordance with the OIC and with the support of a number of organizations including HeliCat Canada and local snowmobile clubs.
Our season begins December 1 and concludes April 16th. Public access restrictions are in force during this time and the signs on Meadow Mountain Forest Service Road help direct snowmobilers and other backcountry enthusiasts to “The Meadows” area which is open to the public. All other areas within our tenure are for the exclusive use of Selkirk Snowcat Skiing. We appreciate your cooperation.
