Ozie’s Musings: It’s A Family Affair

This year we’ve had an amazing number of parents and their young adult offspring skiing with us. With no fewer than 18 young’uns age 16 – 22 joining us, it seems like growing trend.

FamilyAffairBlogPicThese young adults change the dynamic in the lodge and on the mountain. Their excitement and youthful enthusiasm is so infectious that you find yourself reliving your first, epic ski adventures.

And for me personally, sharing that special moment when a young buck skis circles around his Dad is a real joy to behold. I humbly recall a few years back when my own son, Liam, stood waiting for me at the bottom of the trees, taunting: “Come on old man, what took you so long?” Sigh…

Skiing at Selkirk with your kids brings a fresh energy to adulthood, reminding us we are all just kids at heart. When you watch your progeny ski your favourite big line or huck that cliff while your better judgement wants to turn away, it’s sure to become “The Best Trip Ever!” That is, until you both return next winter…
